I don’t have alot of time right now, but tomorrow I’m going to share a picture that mom sent me yesterday. It’s gross, so I will warn you in advance that it’s disgusting, but I wanted to talk about it, and the people behind it, so I’ll share it here. After all, I think it’s a little insane anyway- which fits right in here at this little spot of cyberspace.

Watch this space- but if you are of the faint at heart, you may want to skip it.

I know that it seems to be the buzz everywhere I look so I thought I’d write a little about Oprahs decision to say goodbye to her show at the end of her 25th year. I know she’s going to be switching to cable and the (OWN) Oprah Winfrey Network that she’s launching with her partner Discovery, but I admit that it made me sad to see that the end of the Oprah Winfrey show is coming.

It couldn’t last forever, but I, for one will miss it. I’ve been watching Oprah since she started in the 80′s and remember watching her from my college dorm room at University of Southern Mississippi in 1988. I loved her then, and I love her now. I haven’t always agreed with everything she’s said or done, but she’s made a positive impact in the lives of many, and that’s something we should all strive to do.

What do you think?

I don’t know about y’all, but I am thrilled that the weekend is upon us. If I smoked, I would be ready to light a few Acid cigars and kick back and relax. Instead, I’ll drink a cup of coffee, watch a good movie and hopefully get caught up on a few things around here.

This weekend is going to be a busy one, and promises a week of fun with the holidays knocking at our back door. Can you believe that it’s just a little more than a month until Christmas? I can’t. I’ve got to get some shopping done, so I’d better add that to my things ‘to do’ this weekend.

I don’t know what is going on but I logged in over here to find that I had more than 25 Spam (not the kind you eat) comments from very odd sources. Granted, they’ll get deleted, but it’s weird that I go for ages and don’t get any, and then poof- they are everywhere.

I was thinking earlier today, when I was ordering a few Christmas presents that I wanted to remind not only myself, but everyone else to make sure that if your gifts require batteries that you include them with the gift. I think there is nothing worse than receiving a gift on Christmas morning to find that it takes batteries that you happen not to have in the house. I know I don’t like to wait when I want to use something, so I can only imagine how a child would feel.

That’s your bit of ‘wiz’dom for today. Use it as you will.

With the new Verizon/Google Android telephone hitting the stores; it looks like the Apple iPhone is finding itself with some of its biggest competition yet. The phone is receiving positive reviews from places like Cnet, and with as many as 10,000 downloadable applications, it is giving the very popular iPhone a run for its money.
The Google search technology also has a voice recognition system which is reported to be extremely accurate and difficult to fool, even when more than ample background noise. Did I mention that it also has a GPS that is integrated very smartly with Google maps and poses a viable threat to some of the stand alone GPS models such as Garmin.
In spite of all of its many features, it’s still called a cell phone, so it does all your typical cell phone functions, like making phone calls, sending text messages and the like. One thing that many seem to favor about this phone over the iPhone is that it has a removable battery, where the iPhone does not.
Even though it is receiving rave reviews, it’s far from perfect. The touch screen has been reported to be a bit on the jumpy side, and feels a little heavy. Being an avid fan of the iPhone myself, I’m curious to check out this phone and see if it lives up to the hype.

I’m sitting here in the guest room with the laptop and the company of the great Mister M. and thought I would tap out a few words before slipping into my PJ’s for the evening. Marcel was sweet enough to make coffee and bring me a cup, but when I took a sip I almost choked because it is so strong.

Once I finish with this, I need to check out an email that I received regarind our home insurance, although I need to check the properties of where it was sent from, because I’m not convinced it’s not a phisher or spam. Usually if anyone contacts us about that type of thing, it’s usually through Marcel’s email address and not mine. In fact, I don’t think I’ll take the chance, I’ll delete it and be done with it.

I have so much to say, but not enough time to say it in, so I’ll have to bid you goodbye for now. More later, you can be sure of that.

When Clara Shih of Hearsay Labs posed the question “Is email dead?” in a recent BNET video feature, I doubt that she expected to receive the attention that she did by posing this question. In a world where we are all constantly ‘connected’ thanks to our smart phones, we can Twitter or Facebook our way through anything.
The question arises because of the fact that Facebook has more than 300 million users, with iPhone and Twitter users taking a close back seat at 60 million users. Many feel that social media and text messaging have taken the place of email and Clara Shih suggests that most students use these platforms as a manner to connect and use email for communication with teachers and parents.
Personally, I think email is here to stay. While I admit that I’m connected with all of the social media platforms, when I have something personal that I’d like to say, nothing beats an email or a phone call. I tend to think that Ms. Shih may be limiting her ideas amongst a small group of people and generalizing her thoughts, while I believe that most of us use email just as much as ever. What do you think?

I couldn’t believe it- I logged in here to write a few words and found more than 30 spam comments from a language that I didn’t even recognize. It was Greek, Bulgarian or one of those ‘symbol’ languages. Needless to say, they’re wasting their time, because if I can’t read it, I’m not going to approve it. Not to mention, I’m not a fan of spam- even the canned kind.

What I am a fan of is water, although I consider myself to be a bit of a water snob. Some people say that all water is created equally when nothing could be further from the truth. One thing that makes a huge difference in the way water tastes is using a filter such as the ukf8001axx, to help filter out the ‘junk’ from your water. I love using a filter because it sure beats the price of bottled water.

What about you, do you find that all water is created equal?

In an effort to repair more than 58 vulnerabilities that have affected the Mac OS X systems, Apple has come out with a giant-patch to cover them all. While there was a point when Mac operating systems were never attacked by hackers, the numbers have been growing in recent years.

These vulnerabilities could potentially allow someone complete access to the system for a remote attack on any system that hasn’t been patched with this update. The update from Apple has the ‘extremely critical rating’ in hopes of letting customers know how extremely important this patch is to the security of their system.

The patch includes various PHP and Apache open- source components plus even patches security holes found in QuickTime player. The patch also covers issues such as Core Media buffer overflow issues and memory corruption problems with H.264 movie files. It also covers corruption issues existing in DirectoryService, and a heap buffer overflow issue which exists in Disk Images.
The update, which is covered under the Security Update 2009-006/Mac OS X v10.6.2 patch bundle can be found for download at Apple.com/downloads .

More information on what the update actually covers and why it’s important can be found here
