A Little South of Sanity

I was having a problem falling asleep last night (probably because I slept so much yesterday) so I called mom and she was trying to upload some pictures to her desktop computer. They are in the market to get a new one, but in the meantime they are stuck with a very slow one, until her favorite daughter gets home and chooses one for her. She told me someone was telling her that she needed a new Linksys router and asked what I thought. My advice was that she didn’t worry- that I promise to take care of it when we’re home, and I will.

I’ve only been up an hour- and I’m already wanting to go back to bed. I hope I get past this goo in my lungs soon. I want my body back.

As you can see- I changed the layout theme of this space, but I’m still not sure that this is the look that I want. It wasn’t hard to change and took all of about two seconds but I still need to have something that is more reflective of me. I love this pink and black, but truth be told- I’m not a pastel kind of girl.

The search continues. If you know anyone who can create GOOD, affordable, customized themes, please have them drop me a note. I probably could do it myself, but I honestly just don’t have the time or inclination at this point.

I guess you could say that some people consider me this computer guru. Granted, I think nothing could be further from the truth, because I see myself as someone who knows some things, but there is so much more that I don’t know. Some people get that impression from my parents, who tend to tell everyone that I know it all when it comes to computers. Again, that isn’t exactly true. When they have a friend who needs computer information they send them to me, so I wasn’t surprised yesterday when I got an email from a friend of theirs about web hosting.

Luckily this is one thing that I do know something about and they wanted to know what I thought about linux web hosting and if it was a good option for the hosting for their upcoming site. We talked via email for a while and I finally decided to call them because that’s much faster and easier. After a little chat, I could tell that they knew what they wanted and basically wanted to know which was the best for their money. I gave them my opinion based on the reviews I’d read and suggested that before they made a choice that they read the reviews for themselves. After all, what I may personally need for a site may not be what they need.

This morning I had an e-card from them thanking me for my time and help. I was happy to be able to steer them in the right direction, even though I didn’t really feel as though I’d done anything major.

I finally took the plunge last week and ordered the new iPhone 4. One of my best friends has had it since it came out, and she’s had nothing but great things to say about it. I do love my current ‘eye’, but the new version had so many things that I talked to the company and they’re allowing me to extend my contract early. Once it arrives, I’ll get some iphone 4 accessories and I’ll be ready to go. Looks like I’m going to have to be patient for a while though until it arrives. Tomorrow isn’t soon enough. I can’t wait to start using it.

I changed the look of this space not too long ago, but I’m starting to think that I don’t like it. I did at the time, but right now it seems a little too dark for this space. The quest continues to find something that will be exactly what I’m looking for.

Maybe when winter rolls around I’ll find some extra time to actually create something myself. It has been a very long time since I worked on a layout of my own, but I would love to have something that’s more personalized to me.

I’ve been looking at digital scrapbooking pages and wonder how I could incorporate them into a layout. Who knows- maybe I’ll take the time and find out.

Since I bought a laptop computer less than a year ago for work, the last thing I thought I’d find myself doing recently was reading laptop reviews, but when someone needs help, I tend to want to help them, especially if it’s someone I love. Mom and dad have been using an ancient computer for a while now and I promised to help them find a new computer when I come home for the holidays. In the meantime, I’ve been reading about notebook computers, laptops and of course, the PC. I haven’t decided yet, which one of them is going to be the best for mom and dad, but I’m keeping up with what is at the top of the line and plan to have them purchase accordingly. Since they keep their computers for so long, it’s best to make sure they can get the best they can so it won’t seem outdated in six months.

I know that until today I hadn’t been here in a while, but trust me, in spite of my temporary vacation away from this little home, your spam comments are still not welcome AND they still won’t make it through.

I don’t care that you think I should try your penis enhancers, nor do I care that you think I should travel where you want me to travel (unless you are going to PAY me to travel to your tropical destinations and foot the bill for the stay), nor take the pills that you want me to take. I know you’re just tryin to earn a penny or two, but that isn’t going to happen here. I can assure you.

Now, to quote Glenda the Good Witch- “Be Gone- Before Somebody Drops a House On YOU!”

If you know anything about me at all, then you know that one thing I love is reading. I can’t tell you how much cash I spend ordering from Amazon books each year, but now I’ve been thinking about possibly buying a Kindle. It would mean in intitial investment into the Kindle, but the books are less expensive plus it would free up tons of space in the house because I’d no longer have drawers of ‘to read’ books. It’s something I’m seriously considering, so if you have any input on a Kindle, I’d love to hear it.

You may laugh at this- but sometimes it is the little things that fascinate me. Little things like going into a public restroom and finding that the hand dryers are the kind that I love- the ones that you slowly stick your hand down into this little thing and this high speed blower instantly dries your hands. I find myself wanting to play with them, and you may not believe it- but I’ve even considered wetting a little piece of my hair, just to see how fast it would dry it.

As I was saying- it’s the little things.

This morning I called Marcel at work before heading out for the day and asked him what he was doing. I expected him to tell me that he was drinking coffee with his colleauges, but instead he told me they were drinking coffee and discussing the Symbol LS2208, which they received a few days ago to scan some of the rolls that come through their area. Apparently they are making some system upgrades and today was the first I’d heard about it. Looks like I’m always the last to know these things.
