I remember when I was younger and my parents would talk about the things that they experience when they were kids that we had never had the opportunity to experience (be it good or bad) I thought that it was silly.   Now, when I think about some of the things that I’ve experience in my life and that today’s generation have no idea what I’m talking about- I admit to feeling a little dated.  (Notice I didn’t say old).

I just read an Associated Press article that is featured on WLOX News. I accessed it via my Facebook page, but it starts with:

Wear wristwatch? Use e-mail? Not for Class of ’14

By DINESH RAMDE
Associated Press Writer
MILWAUKEE (AP) – For students entering college this fall, e-mail is too slow, phones have never had cords and the computers they played with as kids are now in museums.

The Class of 2014 thinks of Clint Eastwood more as a sensitive director than as Dirty Harry urging punks to “go ahead, make my day.” Few incoming freshmen know how to write in cursive or have ever worn a wristwatch.

To read the rest of this article, click the link I shared above. I guess we have now become the generation that we once laughed at our parents about.

Miss Lohan appeared in court yesterday in regards to a probation revocation hearing and apparently wore the words “F%$# U” (you get the message) on her middle finger.  The photo to the left shows where the words appeared, but it is smudged out for general audiences.

I have to wonder if Miss Lohan is not following on the heels of her once BFF Miss Spears, whose erratic behavior also became the talk of the tabloids.   It makes me wonder if they are ill equipped to deal with the fame and fortune, or if they were a little ‘off their rocker’ to begin with.

Either way, I do hope that Miss Lohan gets the help that she needs, and whether she was showing contempt to the Los Angeles Court System, her dad, or any of the other people speculated, doesn’t really matter. What matters is that she realizes she’s in a deep pit and hopefully will choose to get the help she needs and dig her way out, before it’s too late.

There is one thing about being in a movie theater filled with 300 women; you definitely see some interesting things. Maybe it’s because I love to people watch so much, but I would have been happy observing all the people in the crowed as opposed to mingling with them. I met some great people, but the people watching was quite entertaining.

There was a table set up for a company who does pedicures along with hot stone massages. Next to them was a table with facial creams and they were talking about why theirs is the best and guaranteed to make your skin look younger. I couldn’t help but think about bestfacecream.net and I wondered just how many people claim that their creams are the best. Surely they can’t all be the best, can they?

Next to them was a little table selling cute watches that look like bracelets. They are water resistant and great for vacation. Desere ended up buying a white one for her trip to Greece, but I decided against it. I’ve wanted a Swatch now for quite some time (I used to wear them when I was younger), so I think I’ll probably get one and take it with me on vacation this year.

You could tell which one of the vendors were giving away free items, because that’s the table where the most women were, crowded around like vultures. It was quite interesting to see even though I’m of the female species myself. Thankfully there were none so eloquently dressed as the one on the train last week.

Last night I went to the Sex in the City 2 premiere with Desere. Our local movie theater sponsors a Ladies Night several times a year and thanks to my sister in law and a willing colleague of hers we were able to get tickets without standing in the line with 300 other women. The tickets were sold out within one hour and the evening is always fun. They have snacks and goodie bags for everyone, plus local vendors are set up offering different things.

Desere and I were making our way through the crowd last night and we came upon a booth what was selling sex toys. The funny thing was the table next to them was a man in his 50′s with a ‘how to stop smoking’ method. Desere and I actually found it amusing to watch the girls in their late teens and early 20′s crowd around the table and giggle. They even had a grab box, and for 5.00 you could stick your hand in and ‘grab’ something.

I believe that little man thought he had the best seat in the house. I stopped to get some information for Marcel in case he may get the urge to stop smoking and I don’t even think that man noticed me. I have to say, it was pretty amusing.

A few days ago Marcel was outside fishing and he called me from his cell- He said, “We have a problem.” Eventually he told me what ‘our’ problem was, but right now I don’t have time to go into all the details because otherwise my bath water my overflow and that would be a problem of another sort.

So watch this space, and I’ll be back tomorrow to share what happened. It was quite humorous.

You may laugh at this- but sometimes it is the little things that fascinate me. Little things like going into a public restroom and finding that the hand dryers are the kind that I love- the ones that you slowly stick your hand down into this little thing and this high speed blower instantly dries your hands. I find myself wanting to play with them, and you may not believe it- but I’ve even considered wetting a little piece of my hair, just to see how fast it would dry it.

As I was saying- it’s the little things.

Since I probably won’t be great about coming up with a question of the day- I decided that I could at least come up with a question of the day.

So today, inquiring minds would like to know: What have you seen, read or experienced in recent months that has made you more angry than you’ve been in a while, and why?

I’ll share my response to this tomorrow- In the meantime, I’d love to hear your responses- so feel free to spill it!

It is no secret that I’m a HUGE fan of the television reality show Survivor. I’ve been watching it since the very first season when Richard Hatch walked away with the first million they gave away (and later was sentenced to prison time for tax evasion), and I’ve watched every season since.

The show is on it’s 20th season and this one is appropriate titled Heros -vs- Villians. Some of my favorite players of all time are playing on this show- J.T. (who won the million a few seasons ago), Rupert, and even one of the biggest villians of them all, Russell Hance.

If you’ve seen any of the two seasons that Russell has appeared on, it’s no secret that he is relentless. I honestly believe in the history of the game he plays it harder than anyone, and maybe that’s because he has this overwhelming desire to be known as the most ruthless person ever.

I’ve heard many people say that Russell is probably a sweetheart in real life and nothing like his Survivor persona, but I tend to think otherwise. I know these people are there for the ‘show’ and to play a ‘game’, but you can’t have your game face on 24/7 and not allow pieces of who you are to show. After alll, a person can only pretend so much.

This past weekend mom sent me a news article where Russell Hance had been arrested in Layfayette, LA for shoving a woman and making her fall to the ground. That would definitely give me the impression that he obviously means that negative banter he spews about women on the show, and how he seems to feel as though he is ‘superior’ to everyone else. Then again, maybe the show has gone to his head.

He’s a great player- but definitely not someone I’d want to know in ‘real life’.

After all, you can take the boy out the trailer park, but you can’t take the trailer park out of the boy.

This past weekend I started reading the book called Women, Food and God and so far I absolutely love it. I first heard about the book when I read an excerpt on the Oprah website and knew that it was something that I really wanted to read, so I ordered it.

The see myself in so many of the things I’ve read so far and I’m only on chapter 2. It seems like many of the women who attend the workshop start out only wanting to know how to lose weight fast, but end up walking away with something so much more. It isn’t about losing the weight. The food isn’t the problem, we are. The way we see ourselves and how we avoid everything we don’t want to deal with by comforting ourselves with food.

I can’t wait to see what else I learn along the way that I can pick up, and carry with me for the rest of my life.

I’ve been wanting to see this movie for a while now. I’ve watched the trailer on Flixster on my “eye”, plus I’ve seen a different trailer for it when I’ve been to the theater to see other movies. I’ve heard it’s really good, and I am not surprised since I’m a huge fan of Nicholas Sparks.

Have any of y’all seen it? If so, what did you think? I know I’ll never get Marcel to go see it, so I think I’ll see if Desere has time this coming week.
