Today I received a text from one of my friends back home.   We went to school together from elementary all the way through high school   We graduated together and went our separate ways, losing contact until the beauty of Facebook brought us together again.    When I’m home I always try to see her.  She is funny and beautiful inside and out.

We don’t talk often between my visits home, but we will send each other a text via iMessage on our iPhones on occasion just to check in and say “Hi”.     Today I had one of those texts from her and I couldn’t help but laugh when I read it.

It said:  Hey girl-  Just wanted to say hi and tell you how much I love your Snaps.  (On Snapchat for those of you who don’t know what a ‘snap’ is.)   You are always off on some fun adventure.

I laughed.    When I finished working I sent her a quick message back and said hi-  Wished them a great Christmas season and told her that sometimes my adventures are not in the ‘fun’ category, like a few days ago when we were stranded on the side of the road for 4.5 hours waiting for help in an area that was totally unfamiliar to us.

I told her that I didn’t ‘snap’ that, but if I hadn’t been trying to preserve my battery life-  I probably would have, as it would have helped pass the time.

It is another example of what we put out there is only a glimpse into what is really going on in our lives-     I take everything I see online with a grain of salt- because I know for the most part it’s the highlights of someones life as opposed to the daily ins and outs.    But when we seem to think that someone else’s highlights should be compared to our own lives- it’s when we are asking for trouble.

Remember-   Comparison is the thief of joy.  I can’t remember who said that, but there is SO much truth to it-    Shine in your own light-  you are brilliant and unique just as you are.    None of us need to be like another to be worthy.

Happy Holiday Season.   May yours be merry and bright!

A few days ago I was really feeling the urge to travel. If you know me in my real life- then you know how much I love to explore new places and cultures. Last year I spent my husbands 50th birthday, along with my parents in Northern Italy, Lake Como and Bellagio to be exact. I fell IN LOVE! I love many places, but outside of home, I have never felt such a deep connection with any place I’ve visited as I did Lake Como. So much so that I had a bout of ugly cries when we had to leave.

I want to go back really bad. The other night I sat and planned out the entire trip and then I took some time and browsed through the photos I took while we were there. So many great memories, and I loved it there so much. I may not be going back this year- but it’s definitely on my ‘possibly’ list for next year!

Where is your favorite travel destination so far?

I haven’t peeked in here for a while, but I am still around. Things have been crazy busy around here with work, and while I am grateful- it has left less time for other little projects, like blogging.

We are down to less than 30 days before wheels up- and that means the packing has started. I am personally FINALLY starting to get excited about it, because it means I’ll be seeing my favorite people sooner rather than later. I ordered a great new Samsonite carry on- and I’ve already got it halfway filled with some of the goodies I’m taking to people on the Coast. I can’t wait to see everyone, plus start some new fun and adventures.

Let the fun begin!

Today I miss my family. It’s Easter, and I can’t help but miss spending time with my parents. Enjoying our traditional dishes while the chatter is lively around the table. There really is nothing quite like it.

While we can’t be there today- I am very excited that we will be taking our trip soon to spend time with them, and also to attend a wedding of someone I adore. Summertime, fun in the sun, family, good eats, and love. Does it get any better than that? I don’t think so- Of course there will also be sand in my toes, of which I can not wait.

I finally located and ordered the perfect Samsonite carry on that I’ve been wanting. It is light as a feather, weighing in less than three pounds, which means more space for me to pack in goodies- My heart is halfway there already. It’s time for this girl to travel.

As the title says- I have a new place I’ve added to the top of my ‘to travel’ list. It’s no secret that I fell in love with Northern Italy, namely Lake Como when we visited this past September, but there is SO much of Italy that is dying to be discovered, by yours truly. Today, I received a beautiful book from a family business in Tuscany, who have a gorgeous organic farm. I watched the video about their farm in awe and inspiration. I want to meet the family and even spend some time working on their farm. That is HOW much I loved it.

So tonight, I’ll be dreaming of the Tuscan sunshine, olive and grape fields, and a family who is dedicated to beautiful products. I’ll get there one of these days soon- just you wait and see.

Until then, Time for some quiet time and a little television.

I was reading an article in “O Magazine” about Summer and what it means to each of us- Vacations, relaxing by the pool or other body of water with a good book, gardening.. the list goes on. Relaxation- enjoying the longer daylight hours- time spent with friends, so many wonderful memories waiting to be made.

July, which happens to be my birthday month- and celebration worthy all month long- is also a month filled with fun plans with friends- some of which will include some learning experiences- like a pizza making workshop- and cooking it in a wood fired oven. Enjoyed with friends, life doesn’t get much better than that-

Travels- that’s also on the agenda- as trips to Paris, Berlin, Denmark and beyond are starting to unfold- Full itinerary unknown, but one thing is for sure- it’s going to be an awesome time.

What are your favorite travel destinations?

As I type this- it’s Sunday afternoon- I can hear the birds singing, a cool breeze blowing in from the water- and I find myself dreaming of summer days and vacations. Dinner was roasted zucchini, eggplant, bell pepper and tomato on a little whole wheat pasta- simple, yet delicious. I love the summer fruits and vegetables.

Tonight- I’m ‘home alone’ while my husband works the night shift. My plan is to binge watch a little Mad Men, plus do a little vacation planning for our upcoming holiday. Our big travels will happen in the Fall, but we’re planning an overnight ‘get-away’ here and there, this summer. Much to look forward to.

What’s your favorite part of summer?

Have you ever been at the airport when a musician flies in? It’s nothing short of amazing. There is so much buzz and fun energy around them, and depending on how ‘big’ they are- you can also find yourself surrounded with a plethora of media hounds hoping to get the next scoop. Something I hadn’t really thought of until a friend of mine told me he was going on tour with a smaller, local group was that often times these bands don’t just use local equipment where they happen to be playing, but instead pack everything up in flight cases and take it with them.

I guess it’s one of those things I’d never given much thought to, until Ronald talked about how the equipment was very personal to the musicians, more often than not right down to the microphone. It wasn’t long after my conversation with Ronald, that I happened to be at the airport- and saw a group coming out of the gate with carts full of equipment. It made me smile when I saw it, and I also found myself wondering who they were- and where they were playing.

There is something to be said about a sunny Spring day.   The birds singing,   seeing bumble bees appear and buzz from the hyacinths to the daffodils, watching birds settle into nest building so they can lay eggs and continue the life process,  longer daylight hours, and trees coming to life.

It tends to awake us from the winter slumber.   Our energy levels seem to rise and we find ourselves wanting to ‘do things’ rather than nest inside our homes and binge watch Netflix or Amazon Prime.    The same is happening here-    we are working on home projects and preparing from some amazing times that we’ll be spending with friends, plus some travel later in the year with my family.

Life- it’s  happening now.

What about you?  Do you find yourself more energized in the Spring?

This year our travel agenda has Berlin on the list- amongst other places.

It has been a dream of mine to see the former Berlin Wall area since they tore it down, and it looks like finally- that dream will come true.

So, my question to you dear reader, is what are your ‘must see’ Berlin spots, plus would love to hear any other travel information in regards to Berlin that you may have.

Ready, Set, Go!!
