Since I haven’t been spending any time online the past couple of days- now that I am attempting to catch up a little, I have been reading emails and trying to catch up on the news.   I couldn’t help but want to share a couple of these ‘staged’ liscense plates that different creative people have made and sent in to Fox News.

I actually found myself chuckling out loud at a few of them.  Even though I’m only sharing three of them, there are actually seven in total at this point.    I will be the first to say that this isn’t a political blog nor am I a political person, I couldn’t help but share them.

If you are interested in seeing the rest of the collection, feel free to check them out at Fox News.

I remember when I was younger and my parents would talk about the things that they experience when they were kids that we had never had the opportunity to experience (be it good or bad) I thought that it was silly.   Now, when I think about some of the things that I’ve experience in my life and that today’s generation have no idea what I’m talking about- I admit to feeling a little dated.  (Notice I didn’t say old).

I just read an Associated Press article that is featured on WLOX News. I accessed it via my Facebook page, but it starts with:

Wear wristwatch? Use e-mail? Not for Class of ’14

By DINESH RAMDE
Associated Press Writer
MILWAUKEE (AP) – For students entering college this fall, e-mail is too slow, phones have never had cords and the computers they played with as kids are now in museums.

The Class of 2014 thinks of Clint Eastwood more as a sensitive director than as Dirty Harry urging punks to “go ahead, make my day.” Few incoming freshmen know how to write in cursive or have ever worn a wristwatch.

I can’t imagine how the people who lost a member of their family in the tragedy on 9/11. After reading this article this is wrong on so many levels.

What do you think?

Just a few days short of 3 months- with no end in sight. It breaks my heart when I think about the Gulf and what is happening because of this tragedy. It affects SO many, right down to animals who are now being deserted and taken to shelters because people have lost their livlihood and can no longer afford to take care of themselves, much less the animals they love.

It’s tragic, it’s heartbreaking, it’s maddening… When will it end?

Miss Lohan appeared in court yesterday in regards to a probation revocation hearing and apparently wore the words “F%$# U” (you get the message) on her middle finger.  The photo to the left shows where the words appeared, but it is smudged out for general audiences.

I have to wonder if Miss Lohan is not following on the heels of her once BFF Miss Spears, whose erratic behavior also became the talk of the tabloids.   It makes me wonder if they are ill equipped to deal with the fame and fortune, or if they were a little ‘off their rocker’ to begin with.

Either way, I do hope that Miss Lohan gets the help that she needs, and whether she was showing contempt to the Los Angeles Court System, her dad, or any of the other people speculated, doesn’t really matter. What matters is that she realizes she’s in a deep pit and hopefully will choose to get the help she needs and dig her way out, before it’s too late.

I know that news is reporting a glum 4th along the Gulf of Mexico and I can understand why. It is heartbreaking to know that the oil continues to gush into the Gulf and in spite of ‘said’ attemps, nothing seems to be getting better. The oil is all along the coast and as my mother told someone who called from either North or South Dakota a few days ago for a survey- “If you aren’t from the coast, you can’t possibly understand. It isn’t just about the wild and marine life, but about the fishermen and their families. It’s about not being able to go to the beach, or to drive to the pier and go crabbing with your children, or grand children.” It’s something that those of us who have been blessed to have this as a part of our lives, have had it stripped from us. It doesn’t affect a life here and there, it affects everyone on the coast in one way or another.

In spite if the circumstances, I do wish you all a happy, safe 4th of July weekend.

Lately, there have been many things in the news that have found me responding by rolling my eyes. I often think that some of the people who find themselves in the news can’t get any more ridiculous only to be proven wrong.

Personally, I feel as though if you have committed a crime, then you have no right to suddenly play the victim and express sympathy. You may get it from your mother, but you won’t get it from me. You know the old saying- “If you play with fire, you’ll eventually get burned” Well, burn baby burn.

Some of the things in the news that have brought an ‘eye roll’ moment are the following:

  • Joran van der Sloot fears for his life in the Peruvian prison.
  • BP’s oil spill disaster emergency recovery plan for the Gulf includes protection of walruses.  (which haven’t been in the Gulf for millions of years)
  • BP’s oil spill disaster emegency recovery plan for the Gulf includes a phone number and reference of an expert who has been dead for years.
  • 50 year old, Gary Faulkner was arrested in Pakistan while on the quest to find and kill Osama bin Laden.

Need I continue?

What has been an ‘eye roll’ moment for you today?  Inquiring minds want to know.

Each and every morning when I turn on the Anderson Cooper 360 episode that I DVR’d the night before, I find that the oil continues to dump into the Gulf of Mexico and that BP is still not making any huge efforts to show any sort of transparancy, nor are they trying to stop the leak. Ok, I guess to say that they aren’t trying to stop the leak would be untrue, but they are not making as many efforts as they should be to stop the leak and I wonder just how long this will go on.

I personally will not do anything to line their pockets with more money and will not support BP or any other company affiliated with BP in the future. I also pray that those who have been victims due to their GROSS negligence will be compensated. They deserve it, including the families of those 11 men who lost their lives that night and those who survived.

I’m sure I’m not the only person cheering at the fact that Joran van der Sloot has finally been caught and is locked up behind bars (where he belongs) in Peru. He should have been locked up 5 years ago when he murdered Natalie Holloway, and yet his smug face has been all over the world living the high life since. I believe that he’s a sociopath who has felt all along that he was above the law and that he had the ‘catch me if you can’ attitude. I also believe he never thought he’d get caught. I’m just sad that another girl had to die in order for that to happen.

His reason for murdering his most recent victim was that she found something on his laptop that linked him to the Holloway murder. I find that hard to believe, but then again, I don’t know why anything that is associated with him would surprise me. One thing I do pray, is that he doesn’t see the light of day again- ever. Harsh? Maybe so, but at least then maybe there will be some semblance of justice served for all of those who have fallen prey to him.

Have you ever noticed that anytime there is a crisis- there are always some lawyers lurking in the shadows just waiting to make a quick buck off someone elses misfortune? In the midst of the Oil Crisis on the Gulf Coast, where help with the clean-up is needed, there are those lawyers who are rolling up their shirt sleeves not to help with the clean up, but instead to come up with a plan of action to see who can be the most creative in coming up with a way to line their pockets.

Of course, they do it under the guise of helping those who are the victims of this tragedy, but yet if that were really the case, do you think they’d be asking for at least 1/3 of any payments that a person may ultimately receive? This all reminds me of good ole’ boy D. Scruggs and his plethora of ‘class action’ lawsuits. Last I heard he was in prison, but who knows, maybe he’s out now and is the ring leader in this mess.

Regardless of who’s the ring leader in this class action circus- you should be ashamed of yourselves by preying on those who are already struggling enough, and hiding behind the guise of saying you just want to ‘help’.
